Dear Parents of Second Graders,
This is the beginning of an exciting year for you and your children and they begin their faith journeys by receiving the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist. All second graders are eligible to receive both sacraments which will be celebrated in the winter and spring.
To help you prepare your child for these Sacraments, we will be hosting classes, workshops and parent meetings. Enclosed is the schedule so you may mark your calendars!
We have also enclosed a survey whether you are considering an individual mass or will be participating in the group mass and your child’s sacramental information. Please complete these forms and return to me by November 9, 2011.
In preparation for these Sacraments, it is vitally important that your child attend mass on a weekly basis. Missing Mass is not an option. By attending mass on a weekly basis, children learn the important aspects of the mass and how to participate, as well as developing a sense of belonging to the church community.
In addition, students need to attend either Monday or Wednesday night PSR classes at the PAC or participate in the Home Faith program. If you need to register for either of these programs, please contact Kelly Jacobs, at the parish office (873-8850) or email KellyJacobs@saintjosephplaincity.com.
Students and at least one parent are also required to attend both the Reconciliation and Holy Communion Preparation workshops held on January 21, 2012 and February 25, 2012.
